"If you’re addicted to the sounds of jazzy blues music of the late ’40s and early ’50s, you’ll absolutely love the repertoire of Adrianna Marie and Her Groovecutters featuring LA Jones and the Groovecutter horns. Recently re-located from the west coast, the now St Louis residents bring their own brand of post-World War II jazzy-blues that arrive in a variety of grooves, with subjects ranging from romance and fun(naturally) to reflections on the music itself. Blues Music and Blues Blast award nominee and left-handed double bassist, Adrianna Marie is sophisticated, sultry, playful, and she knows how to put the jazz in blues and the blues in jazz. Adrianna was made to sing and play this music and does so without any of the affectations that many modern vocalists apply to music of this era. Her "real life" partner, WC Handy award winner, LA Jones is internationally recognized as a pioneer of left-handed blues guitar style that blends Texas jump swing with West Coast and 1950s Chicago Blues. With nearly 5 decades of touring and recording, he is both at ease and adept at playing his intuitive and jazz leaning blues-guitar stylings from wailing ballads to indomitable, blistering swing licks. The Groovecutters are swinging and ever so cool and will transport you to a time of fast cars, strong drinks, posh night clubs and well-dressed men and woman either in love or playing at it.
